Although Marcel Warmenhoven never restricted himself to using one certain technique or means of expression, his sculptures made of wooden furniture leftovers hold an outstanding place in his work over the past decade. The first of these works of art came into being when he was studying at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and they all show the artist's skilled swiftness and inventiveness: chair legs that serve as an animal's paws, a paintbrush as its tail. Light-heartedness dominates these works. In later years his style becomes more and more sophisticated. Forms get more detailed but nowhere the gift of managing the unruly material gets lost.
